We take special care of our infrastructure in order to guarantee excellent uptime and avoid any issues that can lead to data loss. Besides that, a backup VPS system is very important in case of failure.
Unfortunately, there are no perfect systems and problems can happen.
When they occur the best way to deal with them is to be previously prepared.
One of the best ways to be prepared for this kind of events is to have a backup of all your data, so it can be recovered and continue operations as usual.
We will discuss some of the different approaches for providing backups and data redundancy.
Because different use cases demand different solutions, we won’t be able to give you a one-size-fits-all answer, but you will learn what is important in different scenarios and what implementation (or implementations) are best suited for your operation.
This solution is available by default in our VPS services. All data is redundant through RAID.
Redundancy in data means that there is immediate failover in the event of a system problem.
A failover means that if one set of data becomes unavailable, another perfect copy is immediately swapped into production to take its place.
This results in almost no perceivable downtime and the application or website can continue serving requests as if nothing happened.
Redundancy is an excellent solution to ensure that drive failure does not affect the service, but it is not a backup solution.
Backup services we offer at this time are:
Additional drive as a backup partition
We can add an extra drive to your VPS that can be used to store backups.
Those drives will not affect your SSD space, reducing performance issues and avoiding paying for SSD just for backup storage.
The backup can be scheduled if you are using a control panel like C-Panel.
This way you can choose to restore specific files if an issue arises in your website or platform. You can also recover emails, databases, etc.
Backup space for entire VPS image
This solution provides a backup storage space to run a backup where an entire image of your VPS is stored.
Usually, this type of backup allows in case of a global failure to recover your VPS exactly as it was before the problem occurs.
You can schedule the backup operation through the client area at your convenience.
In conclusion, there are 2 different ways to secure your data. You can use both or choose one that fits your needs.
